Fall is just around the corner with cooler weather and beautiful autumn foliage, making it a great time to visit Pigeon Forge, TN. When you’re in town there are a variety of fun things to see and do! Below, we highlight some of the most popular events in Pigeon Forge throughout September.

Car Shows

Car enthusiasts are in for a treat with two great car shows. Take a trip down memory lane with Shades of the Past. The show happens September 6 & 7 and features rods, customs and classic cars made through 1972. It’s one of biggest annual car shows and rod runs in the Smoky Mountains. The event will be hosted at Dollywood’s Splash Country. Tickets are only $10 a day and kids under 12 get in free!

The LeConte Center will be hosting this year’s Pigeon Forge Rod Run September 12-14. Check out thousands of hot rods and muscle cars aiming to win prizes like a $10,000 cash giveaway. Don’t miss the huge swap meet and door prizes for attendees. Admission is $12 per day.

National Quartet Convention

Gospel music’s largest annual event is the National Quartet Convention. Enjoy one week of the finest in Southern gospel music at the LeConte Center September 22 – 28. Each day you’ll have the chance to hear various artists perform at NQC Artists Showcases and enjoy spectacular evening concerts. You will not want to miss featured events such as the Booth Brothers 30th Anniversary Celebration & Reunion and the McKameys Tribute & Farewell.

Dollywood Harvest Festival and Great Pumpkin LumiNights

The beginning of fall means the Dollywood Harvest Festival is right around the corner. From September 27 – November 2, Dollywood will be decked out with harvest decorations like pumpkins, cornstalks and scarecrows. Enjoy specially prepared autumn treats like pumpkin-flavored goodies and apple stack cakes, and attend any of the 350 Southern gospel music shows at the park. Once the sun sets, the park will be lit up with thousands of jack-o’-lanterns as part of the Great Pumpkin LumiNights. Enjoy the whimsical scenes, pumpkin carving demonstrations, and artistic sculptures.

Old Mill Heritage Day


Celebrate tradition at the 16th Annual Old Mill Heritage Day at Old Mill Square. The event takes place on September 28. Visitors get a free guided tour of the 188-year-old Historic Old Mill, and get to experience what a “day in the life” was like for the people of Pigeon Forge. There will be live demonstrations by crafts people, including making lye soap, apple butter and wheel thrown pottery.
