Pigeon Forge is home to some of the most fun things to do in the country with its variety of amusement parks, attractions, dinner shows, and more. In 2019, exciting new attractions will open to provide even more unique things to do in the Smokies and we have details about three of the biggest new additions below!
Dollywood Expansion – Wildwood Grove
The biggest new addition to Pigeon Forge is the massive expansion at Dollywood called “Wildwood Grove.” This brand new area of the park features an imaginative theme based on Dolly Parton’s memories of growing up in the Smokies. It showcases a whimsical, childlike feel with a small village, creek, and a massive Wildwood Tree that “comes to life” each night. Wildwood Grove will feature 11 new experiences including rides, play areas, and places to eat.
Pirate Themed Dinner Shows
Pigeon Forge will be getting two new dinner shows in 2019 that offer a completely new experience in the Smokies…pirates! Dolly will be bringing the popular Pirate’s Voyage Dinner & Show in Myrtle Beach to Pigeon Forge and will be located beside The Island.
Just down the road, the creative minds behind Hatfield & McCoy Donner Show, Comedy Barn, Smoky Mountain Opry, and more are creating an entirely new pirate show called Pirate’s Revenge Dinner & Show. The Smoky Mountain Opry theater will undergo a $20 million transformation on the outside as well as inside to create the pirate experience.
Both shows are scheduled to open in spring/summer of 2019 and you can see details about each show on their websites in the links below.
Indoor “Drive-In” Theater
Pigeon Forge is about to get an entirely unique attraction called August Moon, which will be an indoor “drive-in” movie theater! The entire attraction is contained inside a large structure that will have the appearance of a perfect summer night sky on the inside. Parked in front a giant movie screen will be about 40 classic cars that you can sit in and enjoy a movie! There will also be swings, seating, tables, and grassy areas to lay out a picnic blanket to relax “under the stars” as well.
Food and drinks will also be served, which will make this a fantastic combo of something fun to do and somewhere to eat in Pigeon Forge…especially on rainy, snowy, hot, or cold days in the Smokies!
August Moon is planned to open in late 2019 or early 2020.
