Pigeon Forge is a year-round destination offering unique and exciting things to do no matter what month it is…even January and February! These two winter months are some of the best times of the year to visit as they offer much lower crowds, far less traffic, discounts throughout town and more. While Dollywood and many shows shut down during these two months, there are so many other things to do and we highlight five of our favorites below!
Smoky Mountain Winterfest lasts all the way through February, which means you can easily drive around Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Sevierville with extremely light traffic and enjoy the millions of lights and dazzling displays. As a guest of The Ramsey, we highly recommend grabbing a cup of our complimentary coffee or hot chocolate to enjoy in your car or on the Pigeon Forge trolley to sip while viewing the sights.
While Dollywood and many shows take a break for the winter, January and February are fantastic months to visit the excellent museums in Pigeon Forge! Some of the most popular are the Titanic Museum, Alcatraz East Crime Museum, WonderWorks, and Hollywood Wax Museum. The great thing about these museums are that they are indoors and allow you spend as much time as you like strolling through and seeing & interacting with the exhibits!
Indoor Snow Tubing
Pigeon Forge is home to the country’s first indoor snow facility, which means you can go snow tubing all year long, no matter what the weather is like! Pigeon Forge Snow offers multiple snowtubing lanes in a temperature-controlled building to provide a comfortable climate and perfect snow every single day. This is a highly popular attraction for couples, families, groups, & more and is located just 1.7 miles away from The Ramsey Hotel!
The Island in Pigeon Forge
The Island in Pigeon Forge is a popular place to spend a day or evening as it offers a variety of things to do, places to shop, and fantastic places to eat. It is located less than 1 mile from The Ramsey Hotel and features The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel, water fountains that dance to music, and so much more. Parking is free and it is free to stroll and enjoy the various shops and features. As this is mostly outdoors, we do recommend choosing a day that is not raining or snowing to visit The Island.
Escape rooms have become increasingly popular over recent years, and Pigeon Forge has some of the best in the country! Escape rooms consist of a variety of themes in which your group gets “locked” in an area and you must use a number of clues to solve the puzzle and “escape” the room. These attractions are typically booked up most of the year, but during January and February it is much easier to get into any of them! Some of the most popular ones are The Escape Game at The Island, Kryptology, Trapped, and Smoky Mountain Escape Games.
